The Clay Caves is one of the two inner-ring biomes (150–450 tiles from the Core), home to the game’s tin ore and the Larva Hive dungeon where the Hive Mother waits.
Location
Cross the chasm around The Undergrounds with a Wood Bridge. The Clay Caves and The Forgotten Ruins each occupy one half of the world beyond the chasm — the exact angle varies by seed, so if you find the Ruins first, walk the opposite direction from the Core.
What you find
- Tin Ore — the tier-2 metal, for tin tools and equipment
- Clay — building material
- Iron Ore — occasional veins
- Larva Hive entrance — sub-biome dungeon with the Hive Mother at ~330 tiles
