Core Keeper Cooking & Food Buff Guide — Best Recipes and How Buffs Stack
Food in Core Keeper isn’t just hunger — the right dishes are pre-boss loadouts. This cooking guide explains how food buffs work, which ingredients give the strongest effects, and the best combos before each fight.
How food buffs work
- Food value refills your hunger; hunger loss only reduces max health and stats — you can’t die of starvation.
- Cooked ingredients give Regen, max health, armor, damage and speed buffs with a duration.
- Buffs from different food slots stack; stacking the same buff type applies the highest value (buff stacking in Core Keeper takes the strongest effect, not a sum).
- Ingredient quality (Regular / Rare / Epic) scales every number.

FAQ

What’s the best healing food? Bloat Oat gives the biggest food value and strongest HP/s; Heart Berry adds max health on top.
How do I get better food ingredients? Gardening grows crops (including Heart Berries), fishing catches fish (Riftian Lampfish in the Sunken Sea), and mushrooms spawn around the underground.
